Technology Reduce Illeterate

Do you know that there are many people in this world still illeterate? There are still 775 million iletarate adults of hich almost three-quarters of them are found in only ten countries including Indonesia. So how this problem can be solve? Thanks to this technology era because the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) can decrease the number of illiterate people in this world.

ICT help people to access the literacy education. Technology like television, mobile phone, and radio give people access to study about literacy. Television and mobile phone combine pictures, sounds and texts so it can stimulate the human sense and make the learning process more effective. The radio can be use for educational purpose. For example, people can read a text and from the radio, people can hear the sound how to pronounce the words and know the means of it. The video contain pictures, texts and sounds so people can improve the reading comprehension. Technology make study about literacy easier because while people learn, it will give them a feedback. It will make a literacy lesson more true-to-life and interesting.

ICT can create a literacy-conducive environment. For literacy can become widespread in the society, written information must available to our daily life. ICT can bring the written information to our daily life. For example, a text and an image screened in the television so we can know the information. Short message service can stimulate people to improving their skill in reading and writing. Desktop publishing technology facilitate the production and distribution of local newspaper and can enhance information sharing.

There are need some improvement to realize the ICT for literacy education. The infrastructure need to facilitate the technology like television and mobile phone. In Indonesia, some area still didn’t get the electricity supply. Television and mobile phone can’t use in that area. Then the pathway to reach a remote area. To distribute a newspaper or a book, it very hard if the pathway didn’t exist. The other is the network signal. The network signal must discover every place so the television, internet, and mobile phone can be used. Before realize the literacy education based ICT, the infrastructure must be ready. Infrastructure is an important thing because it’s the core of the technology.

Illeterate problem can be solve by ICT. It provide the access of studying literacy and create a literacy-conductive environtment. To realize that, we must build the infrastructure first because without it technology are nothing. Technologies provide the way to improve the literacy skill and reduce the number of people who illeterate.

Support Hackers and Virus Writers

Many people might think, why would we support hacker and virus writers? Virus writers and hackers are always described as a bad person or as a cyber criminals. They are hacking system and spreading virus that cause damage for computer system. Beside the negative labels of them, we must support them because they can make a positive impact for our world.

We must identify who are hackers and who are virus writers. Hacker is someone who have much of knowledge about computer system. They hack a computer system, take over, and dominate it. Sometimes they steal an important data from a company or a website. Their motive are many. Some of them do it just for fun, take revenge to someone or institution and prove themselves that they can hack high level security system. How about virus writers? Virus writers are people who create and distribute their code for reason of nonspecific malice, employee revenge, information warfare, sabotage, and many more. They make a code that can sabotage a computer system, and replicate itself. Not all of virus writers is a computer geek like hacker because a virus can be made from a simple code.

Hacker and virus writers have knowledge and ability in computer system, and software. Logically if they can cause damage and negative impact so they have potential to make a positive impact and developing computer system. They need to be guided to be a ‘good’ hacker and virus writers. For example, a hacker can help to hack a security system. So the weakness of the security system can be found, do they can develop it and it will be more secure and powerful than before. For virus writers, they can be a good programmer so they can be a software developer. Maybe some of them are not a computer geek but they can learn more deep about computer code and we must guide them to develope or making a software, not to make malicious program and a virus.

Hacker and virus writers will always exist in this world. They can’t be eliminated. We don’t need to eliminate them. We must guide them so they can be a ‘good’ hacker and programmer. They can build and develop the software and the computer system so they will not cause damage anymore. We must support them because they need our support. Lets support hacker and virus writer for better software and computer system.
